Canada restricts ISBNs for AI-written books, requires human author declaration
TuhinChakr · x · 2026-10-16
ISBN Canada's policy requires publishers to declare that a publication was written by a human author. AI tools may only be used for limited support tasks like brainstorming, grammar checking, or formatting. Works whose content is primarily AI-generated (text, illustration, translation) face ISBN quantity limits, and LAC is reviewing the policy. The sharer calls it a great policy every country should adopt.
