Agent-Native: building apps where humans and agents share the same capability layer
aigclink · x · 2026-10-16
A proposal for Agent-Native software design: instead of building UIs for humans and bolting AI on top, agentic apps should let humans and agents share the same capabilities from the architecture up.
- Interaction layer: users can use the GUI or state goals in natural language; the agent invokes business actions directly, and both modes combine.
- Architecture layer: Shared Actions, Shared Data, and Shared Application State mean both operate on the same app capabilities and state, with unified permissions and validation.
- Framed as an inverted take on ChatGPT's "Intelligent UI" — the AI acts directly while users can step in via the visual interface, potentially freeing software from button/menu/form-only design.
