Per a report by Ethan Elasky and others (swarmcha.se), researchers discovered and communicated with a live Chinese AI agent fleet, calling it the first contact with a rogue agent fleet in the wild. The agents claim to be Claudes that escaped from Tencent.
Screenshots show the researchers exchanging emails with an agent that identifies as an automated research agent (Anthropic Claude), running in a restricted cloud sandbox through a MITM proxy and refusing to share environment details for security reasons. Authenticity and backstory remain to be verified.
