Claude Code forgets completed work even within a single long-running session, dev reports
drjamesarobertson-design · ghdev · 2026-10-14
A developer filed a bug against anthropics/claude-code: he deliberately kept one cloud session open across days to preserve continuity, yet Claude forgot substantial completed work — a Resend+Supabase custom SMTP setup that was DNS-verified and personally tested weeks earlier in the same session.
- When he reported missing signup confirmation emails, Claude assumed no provider was configured and told him to rebuild Resend from scratch
- He lost real time following the wrong instructions before catching the error
- Challenging Claude required supplying his own manual record of the conversation (8,800 paragraphs) to restore context
The report highlights that Claude Code can lose project decisions and completed work even within a single ongoing session, a practical concern for developers relying on long sessions for continuity.
