ML researcher: by journal authorship rules, many prolific PIs should be on <10% of their papers
skoularidou · x · 2026-10-16
Researcher skoularidou calls out authorship practices in ML and computational biology: universities like Cambridge, Harvard and MIT and journals like Nature and Science have clear criteria — paying salaries or providing HPC without intellectual contribution does not suffice for authorship. By those guidelines, she argues, a long list of prolific PIs would qualify as authors on less than 10% of the papers they claim to co-author per year.
