Neon Realtime enters public beta: turn any SQL query into a live query inside Postgres
matei_zaharia · x · 2026-10-16
Neon launched Neon Realtime in public beta, built by the Electric team (creators of pglite, Postgres on WASM). It turns any SQL query—joins and aggregates included—into a live query inside Postgres, and is designed to be agent-ready.
Architecturally, it leverages Lakebase's storage-compute separation to run an incremental query engine on a separate compute instance, avoiding overload of the primary write Postgres and pushing writes incrementally to all subscribers. Available on all Neon plans; rxin touts complex realtime sync apps in a few lines of code.
