GitSwarm paper: agents share branchable Git memory, solving all 30 IMOProofBench problems in one run

A new arXiv paper, GitSwarm: Decentralized Compounding Inference (Anirudh Goyal, Aaron Courville, Jason Weston, Ruslan Salakhutdinov, and others), proposes "compounding inference": organizing inference-time compute so intermediate work — partial solutions, findings, and even failures — persists and can be inspected, extended, and challenged by later computation.
- Design: asynchronous homogeneous agents advance a task independently, collaborating through a shared, branchable Git repository. Atomic commits preserve artifacts, and explicit semantic dependencies track how later work builds across branches.
- Results: on IMOProofBench-Advanced, GitSwarm solves all 30 problems in one run using GPT-5.5; on ProgramBench it scores 79.4% mean vs. 65.1% for the strongest baseline at the stated budget; validated further on three neural architecture research tasks.
- Thesis: long-horizon problem solving and research require compute to accumulate across attempts rather than living in single trajectories.
