MacBook Falters at Parallel Agent Workloads as fseventsd Spirals After Days
fforres · x · 2026-10-16
Developer fforres complains that MacBooks are poor for multi/parallel agent work: after a few days, macOS's fseventsd (the filesystem events daemon) goes wild, and "killing fseventsd on a cadence" feels like a dumb workaround. He asks whether anyone has tried a dedicated volume for agent workspaces with fseventsd disabled there, short of moving to Linux.
Mitigations already in place: Spotlight has been disabled on those folders, solving part of the problem, and much of the workload now runs on remote dev environments (shoutout to boatdotdev). Directly useful for anyone running multiple coding agents on a Mac.
