Neurons may be underrated for interpretability — and developmental structure could make it easier
livgorton · x · 2026-10-16
Wrapping up her thread (part 14), livgorton notes that neurons being more useful for interpretability than commonly assumed is an important point previously argued by others (e.g. Arora et al., 2025).
She adds a promising direction: we might leverage the developmental structure of networks to make interpretability much easier — rather than framing the neuron view against the features view.
