Figma launches Guidelines and Code Sources so AI agents can follow your design system
JaynitMakwana · x · 2026-10-16
At Config India 2026, Figma launched Guidelines and Code Sources: designers write product rules and implementation context once, and AI agents in their files build accordingly—no more re-explaining the design system in every prompt. Guidelines is in open beta, Code Sources in closed beta. Figma also announced Code Layers (capture live websites into the canvas via an improved Chrome extension), Specs (Markdown docs inside Figma, connected via MCP and GitHub so coding agents pick up context), and a Payload integration for pulling real CMS content into Figma-built sites. The releases signal Figma is betting heavily on agent-centric design-to-code workflows.
