Next-gen GraalVM benchmarks: 4x faster startup, 2x less memory, no build step needed
RealGeneKim · x · 2026-10-15
An Oracle engineer shared benchmarks of the next-generation GraalVM (25.0.4.1.1 LTS): running a single-file Java program directly via java -svm — no build step or project changes required.
Hyperfine results (50 runs) vs standard JVM:
- Wall time: 219.7ms → 54.5ms (4.0x faster)
- CPU time: 701.1ms → 44.1ms (15.9x faster)
- Memory: 301.4 MiB → 148.7 MiB (2x less)
- CPU cycles down 93.1%
The pitch: fast startup and low CPU/memory footprint with zero code changes.
