AI-made film and TV crossed from tool demos into the actual content marketplace this week.
- Prime Video takes a fully AI film: Per Variety, Prime Video acquired global rights to Çukur: Vartolu, an AI-generated spin-off of the Turkish hit Çukur (The Pit). Producer Ay Yapim's Singapore-based AI studio AI Yapim made it, stating "every frame was generated with AI" — but human actors performed the scenes with AI rendering characters over their motion and expression, and all dialogue was voiced by humans. The franchise has aired in 105 countries and its YouTube channel has 6.4B+ views.
- Mipcom screenings: In Cannes, Ex Machina Studios and others screened generative AI series pilots for international buyers.
- Consent line: Nicolas Cage drew a clear boundary on AI consent.
Laurence Moroney argues the industry narrative is shifting from tools to actual deals — with fan reception of full-AI productions the key thing to watch.
