Investor Lukas M. Ziegler announced he is joining the jury of SPRIND's Next Frontier Robotics Challenge, which aims to catalyze a modular, frontier-capability robotics ecosystem in Europe. His thesis: Europe's real strength is components—actuators, drives, sensors, control, precision manufacturing—plus a large industrial customer base, while it has lagged at the vertically integrated platform play where US and Chinese capital has concentrated. The modular approach is to build the interoperable layers Europe is genuinely good at to a frontier standard, instead of racing to own the whole stack.
