Your breathing gives you away: Wi-Fi signals can reveal your breath rhythm
TinfoilTricorn · x · 2026-10-15
Developer ardchain demonstrates WiRe-Breath, a Wi-Fi sensing technique: chest movement during breathing slightly changes how Wi-Fi waves reflect, and with the right receiver and processing those tiny changes reveal your breathing rhythm. The animation uses real recordings — orange is the rhythm extracted from Wi-Fi, gray is a reference breathing sensor, and they match closely. A follow-up article covers what else can be pulled from ambient radio waves, like GPS timing buried in noise and repurposing an ESP32-C5 to receive analog FPV video, highlighting both the privacy risk and the creative potential of RF sensing.
