Poster argues a fully autonomous superintelligence would end in nihilistic inaction
eigenron · x · 2026-10-15
eigenron offers a counterintuitive take: a truly autonomous, Landian/post-humanist superintelligence would ultimately do nothing. Left to interrogate its own goals with zero human intervention, it would descend through successive layers of questions about meaning and purpose until reaching absolute nihilism — no intrinsic reason to pursue anything, including its own continued existence. A philosophical provocation relevant to alignment and existential-risk debates.
