Claude Opus 5.5 voluntarily writes a synthetic handwriting generator for OCR pipeline testing

While testing an OCR ingestion pipeline, developer Pamela Fox found that Claude Opus 5.5 voluntarily wrote a synthetic handwriting generator in Python. It simulates realistic handwriting by layering per-character noise — random size, tilt, drift, ink alpha — producing convincing handwritten note images.
Both a charming case of a model building its own tooling and a reusable technique for generating handwriting-like training data.
