Codex Windows Desktop sidebar loses local projects after update, GitHub issue shows
vandrelowe · ghdev · 2026-10-12
A user filed issue #53251 on openai/codex: after updating or restarting Codex Desktop (build 26.1007.2314.0) on Windows 11, the sidebar stops showing existing local projects and no longer groups chats under Projects. The underlying data is intact — the local state database still contains project records and roots, and chats remain openable — suggesting a sidebar/catalog sync or migration regression rather than data loss. Restarting the app and toggling grouping didn't help; related earlier reports include #35088 and #39121.
