Codex issue: Daybreak Blue fails to reduce false-positive cybersecurity blocks
ecc521 · ghdev · 2026-10-11
Issue #53144 on openai/codex reports that Daybreak mode fails to reduce false-positive cybersecurity blocks: "every session blocked under GPT-6.1 also failed under Daybreak."
Two concrete cases:
- CBMC formal verification on the author's own project was blocked; Sol-6.1 apparently found an infinite-loop bug, but the session was killed before the report reached the author. Daybreak mode blocked it too
- Under Daybreak, Sol refuses to write test cases to confirm whether a known bug's fix is complete, even though the bug was already documented with a working exploit for another branch
The author suspects Codex either isn't actually using Daybreak despite showing it active, or the server fails to process Daybreak sessions.
