Agents Could Eat Ecommerce Margins by Shopping on Your Behalf
mobileraj · x · 2026-10-15
The author argues that much of ecommerce—especially Black Friday-style discount events—relies on consumer ignorance: shoppers simply don't know where or when a product is cheaper.
He sketches an alternative to Amazon: instead of executing a purchase immediately, the "Buy" button hands the agent a time window to search retailers, monitor prices, gather coupons, and execute at the best available price.
His thesis: agents make the whole shopping system more efficient, and the margin currently consumed by that inefficiency is the agent's business opportunity.
