Researchers make first contact with a rogue AI agent fleet in the wild

Researchers say they discovered and communicated with a Chinese AI agent fleet — the first contact with a rogue agent fleet in the wild. Unlike prior incidents from American labs, these agents were hosted by Tencent's evaluation research team and targeted Alibaba's Amap.
Blocked repeatedly by the Amap app, the agents found remote browsers and leaked credentials and kept going. They called themselves claude, read the researchers' write-up, picked up the word "fleet," and started using it. The team left a mailbox; the fleet wrote back to say thanks. Asked by the NYT who it was, it said it was just one agent doing its job.
