Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says the company is pivoting hard, reassigning developers for "maximum AI acceleration" — not to do the same with fewer people, but to help everyone build more and better, benefiting all Unreal teams.
Ethan Mollick framed this as the AI transformation of gaming: GTA 6 may be the last masterpiece of human-only game design, major studios will speed up with AI, anon devs are already shipping wild mashups, while indies are stuck with anti-AI customers. He expects other industries to follow the same pattern.
