Open-Agent-Email: free open-source alternative to AgentMail for AI agents
matchaman11 · x · 2026-10-15
Developer Anil Matcha open-sourced open-agent-email, a free alternative to the $2/month AgentMail, giving autonomous AI agents real two-way email.
Key capabilities:
- Inbound SMTP daemon: binds port 2525 (dev) or 25 (prod) to receive email directly from MTAs and external servers
- Outbound relay: sends real email via AWS SES, Resend, SendGrid, Postmark, or Gmail SMTP
- Domain & DNS verification: custom domains with auto-generated MX, SPF, DKIM (RSA), and DMARC records
- Security: cryptographic SPF/DKIM/DMARC evidence, prompt-injection screening, and human-in-the-loop review gates
Ships with docker-compose deployment, API/client, SDKs, and examples — a practical building block for adding authenticated email to agent workflows without subscription lock-in.
