Claude Code's safety guardrails refuse even non-sensitive env var copies, user complains
Promptmethus · x · 2026-10-15
User @nicksainato recounts Claude Code refusing to copy a set of non-sensitive environment variables between projects, citing its safety check. Workarounds failed: relaying the task to Codex (via herdr) was declined because Claude's rules forbid delegating a blocked action, even with explicit user approval, and arguing the keys weren't sensitive didn't help. A vivid case of guardrails over-blocking in real workflows and the 'no proxy circumvention' logic.
