moyix breaks down how an AI agent turned a single-write primitive into code execution
moyix · x · 2026-10-15
moyix (prominent security researcher) shares technical details on how their AI agent pulled off an exploit, in a reply thread with XBow:
- Heap grooming was needed, but the layout fell their way: WebPIDecoder and the Skia pixel allocation were both the right size to land in 512-byte PA slots, and thread ordering made them easy to place adjacently.
- Restricting the exploit to a single write was deliberate: it's a very clear goal for an agent — far easier to satisfy than a complex constraint — and combined with the WCP table base technique, one write was enough for arbitrary code execution.
A useful illustration of decomposing vulnerability exploitation into clear sub-goals an agent can complete step by step — relevant for agent-driven security research.
