Allen AI shares progress on HiRO-ACEv2. The ACE + HiROv2 combo can generate years of global climate data at resolutions fine enough to capture storms and severe winds, at 300x lower cost than X-SHiELD for global 3km simulations (even bigger savings regionally). Next steps: cross-climate generalization via observed-weather and +4°C datasets, adding temperature, snow, and ice outputs, and making HiROv2 10x+ faster.
