Solo dev ships daily pixel-creature game with Claude Code: 540 commits, 20 daily players
KurusuDesu · reddit · 2026-10-14
A developer built Blobvarium, a browser game where a pixel creature is code-generated from a seed each day (no image models), with players bidding in-game coins for its 24 copies—about 20 daily players so far.
- Generator: Claude Code wrote Python turning a seed into a genome (body, limbs, horns, Inca motifs), rendered as distance-field 96px pixel art plus animations.
- Stack: Next.js + Supabase; all coin/bid rules live in Postgres functions with 138 SQL tests on PGlite and 216 web tests.
- Workflow: three slash commands—one loops through a task board (one commit per task), one closes tasks (checks, report, push), a third Claude reviews and rejects issues; ambiguous points get written down with the chosen option. 540 commits since mid-September.
- This week: it discovered Google blocks sign-in in app browsers, so it added email-code login and a no-account mode, and rendered a trailer frame-by-frame from the game's own drawing code.
