Raising CFG on distilled video models like LTX-2.5 makes output worse, not better
Gen-Talks · reddit · 2026-10-14
While chasing poor prompt adherence on LTX-2.5, the author raised CFG from 1 to 4 — and quality collapsed (oversaturation, fried textures).
The reason: it's a guidance-distilled model. Prompt adherence is baked into the weights, and the base pass runs only 3 denoising steps. Pushing CFG moves it off the operating point it was distilled for — you're not turning up prompt following, you're breaking it. Users with SDXL/SD1.5 habits (where CFG 7 is normal) need a genuinely different mental model.
