Anthropic's internal VCS 'Scion' revealed: built for huge monorepos and agent swarms
nlarusstone · x · 2026-10-14
A screenshot of Anthropic's writeup reveals Scion, its internal version control system — explicitly not a general git replacement. The concepts only make sense for enormous monorepos with tens of thousands of engineers or swarms of agents writing code, and Anthropic says its internal token spend far exceeds what any business would want. Scion diverges heavily from git, requiring bespoke code review, search, and CI, so it's hard to offer broadly; still, the author expects this class of system to spread. The poster wonders whether other internal tools like Dots and Claude Tag are similar.
