Anthropic built its own version control system and ditched git in five months
AccBalanced · x · 2026-10-14
Anthropic's engineering blog details how its monorepo went from 2,500 merges/day in May to 30,000+ in September, bottlenecking developer infrastructure built for human rather than agent scale. The team built a new in-house version control system and fully migrated the monorepo off git in five months.
Gergely Orosz praises the ambitious project but criticizes it as closed source like everything else Anthropic ships: "Only thing open at Ant is Bun and MCP."
