Claude Code webview goes blank in WSL after VS Code update, 401 on resources

Bug report #101865 on the Claude Code repo: on Windows + WSL2 Ubuntu, after updating VS Code to 1.141.1, the Claude Code panel renders blank. The extension activates and authentication works, but the webview's index.js and index.css requests fail with net::ERRABORTED 401 (Unauthorized) from the vscode-remote resource CDN.
Already tried: clearing Service Worker cache, --disable-gpu, wsl --shutdown, and deleting /.vscode-server/bin — all without effect. The issue appeared immediately after the VS Code update; the extension version (2.1.296) did not change. No official fix or root cause yet.
