Crowd of agents push integer multiplication bounds with 'slop-search', kappa records falling every few minutes
iskander · x · 2026-10-14
RohanArun reports progress on an automated research project targeting integer multiplication bounds (toward linear-time multiplication): conditional kappa hit 0.001672267698427438, with new records every few minutes. A "wall" still limits gains, so he's testing entirely new designs alongside an army of contributors on parallel research tracks. He's experimenting with "shared context" across agents — periodically distilling and forking session contexts into new combined ones — which so far seems to increase the rate of progress. iskander quips it's "slop-searching their way to linear time multiplication." PR #1056 was merged into CrocSwap/integer-mult-bounds with reproduction commands and validation details.
