Uber CISO: Build an insider threat program for AI agents, open-sources ADR tooling
Claude (Anthropic) · rss · 2026-10-13
In an Anthropic interview, Uber CISO Philip Martin argues companies need the same insider threat program for AI models that they run for employees. Uber, handling 40M+ daily trips/orders, used Claude for threat modeling before Claude Code existed and now relies on Claude Fable to gather context from code, design docs, and tickets. Uber pairs Anthropic's Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (keeping data control in-house) with its open-source AI Detection and Response (ADR) tool, which streams real-time agent telemetry into a unified detection environment alongside its LLM gateway. Priorities: real-time intervention near the prompt, and continuously discovering emerging model behaviors to build new safeguards. He envisions per-service agents that negotiate threat models with each other.
