OpenMined funds AI ensembling research: $2k stipend plus $5k compute per researcher
iamtrask · x · 2026-10-14
OpenMined has opened a new research grant call to build the first verified map of the quality-cost frontier for AI ensembles and routing.
- Grant package: $2k stipend + up to $5k in compute + 12 weeks of hands-on engineering support per researcher
- The question: at a given cost or latency, what's the best accuracy achievable via model compositions (ensembles, routers, cascades)? Prices for the same quality can differ by orders of magnitude
- Open and reproducible: experiments run on current frontier models, results published with full recipes and costs, and reproduction infrastructure is free
- Offers go out on a rolling basis; applications close Oct 23
