QGIS bans all AI-generated code, and longtime users are walking away
MaxLenormand · x · 2026-10-14
Open-source GIS software QGIS is enforcing a complete no-AI-code policy. The author dislikes it, arguing it's an open invite for someone to build a fork that embraces LLMs the way Omarchy did for Linux. He also notes he recently uninstalled QGIS after years of use, since for most visualization work he now builds his own AI-assisted tools tailored to his workflow — and wishes traditional software would embrace this shift rather than resist it.
