Anthropic merges 30,000+ code changes a day, built in-house git replacement Scion in 5 months
AnthropicAI · x · 2026-10-14
Anthropic's engineering blog details how daily merged code changes grew from 2,500 in May 2026 to over 30,000 by September, as Claude autonomously writes software at a scale human-oriented infrastructure can't handle. The team built Scion, an in-house version control system, and fully migrated its monorepo off git in five months, shipping a code review surface (Antique), code search, and a source-control IAM system along the way. The post frames it as a case study where Claude both caused the bottleneck and enabled the rapid build of its fix.
