Ask-response financial MCPs are too costly; SSE streaming cuts it to $2.58/hour

The author found Anthropic's finance agents produce high-quality earnings-season research but burn through tokens rapidly—reports on just four companies exhausted his budget, making ask-response financial MCPs unviable at current costs.
His fix: flip the ask-response model (always slow and expensive for users) to a server-sent events model, where agents connect and simply listen for new events as the starting point instead of repeatedly polling.
Results: streaming live market events to Claude for one hour cost $2.58 total—roughly $17 for a full market session. The implementation is open-sourced at github.com/cbecks1212/flexreport-mcp.
