Anthropic built its own git as monorepo PRs exploded — up to 207x faster, saves ~11,000 agent hours daily

With PR volume exploding on its monorepo, Anthropic built its own version control tool called scn to replace git. Benchmarks show status dropping from 3.9s to 19ms (207x faster), pull latest 25x faster, and new worktree creation in agent environments cut from 7.1 minutes to 5.1 seconds. Total source control time per change request fell from 34 to 3.7 minutes (11,000 agent hours saved daily), with CI/compute job checkouts 8-9x faster (85,000-195,000 machine hours per day).
