Shield AI's Hivemind cut Honeywell's autonomy development from a year to six weeks

Shield AI announced results from its partnership with Honeywell Aerospace: engineers began training on Hivemind Enterprise in late April and flew their first autonomous aircraft just six weeks later, versus roughly a year of typical autonomy development.
Hivemind handled route planning, mission management, and aircraft-to-aircraft communication, letting the team focus on its target detection and tracking model. The work culminated in a two-aircraft ISR mission: Honeywell's model detected and tracked a target on one aircraft, Hivemind passed the location to a second aircraft, which delivered a payload and returned to base.
