Apple launches HomeView smart home display: 7-inch screen, A18 chip and Apple Intelligence inside

Apple launched HomeView, a smart home control hub with a 7-inch (6.98") Liquid Retina display — like an iPad mounted on a smart speaker — for kitchen counters, living rooms, or walls.
Key points:
- Hub integration: Home app centralizes smart lights, locks, and thermostats; camera face shows up to 9 feeds at once.
- Sound recognition: detects traditional smoke/CO alarm sounds and pushes alerts to iPhone or Watch.
- Accessory ecosystem: new Apple Home Collection line (cameras, thermostats, locks) with end-to-end encryption, compatible with Matter/HomeKit.
- Personalized faces: idle mode works as photo frame or clock with Snoopy, Flow art, calendar, and weather dashboards.
- AI: A18 chip powers Apple Intelligence; Siri handles multi-turn conversations tied to your calendar, messages, and reminders (finding party invites, recipes, Q&A).
- Kitchen mode: Safari recipes launch a simplified cooking mode with parallel timers and Live Activities tracking.
