Turning duplicate detection into a migration map: jscpd finds what AI agents actually ported
Affectionate-Blood92 · reddit · 2026-10-13
A developer proposes an inversion of usual practice: in code migration, duplicates are useful as verification. When porting code to another language or platform, semantic cross-language duplicate detection reveals whether an AI agent truly translated the code or merely copied the source.
The author built tools into jscpd that find semantic duplicates across languages and produce a migration map showing what has genuinely moved and what hasn't — a practical way to audit agent-performed ports.
