UNSW and Oxford launch funded PhD on fair & democratic AI: ~AU$40k/yr plus Oxford placement
TobyWalsh · x · 2026-10-13
A funded Scientia PhD at UNSW co-supervised by Haris Aziz and Oxford's Markus Brill (mentored by Michael Wooldridge) offers AU$40k/yr for 3.5 years plus a AU$25k grant for Oxford research visits. The project builds mathematical and algorithmic foundations of democratic AI via computational social choice: new axioms of representation and proportionality, applied to clustering, data selection, multi-agent allocation, and preference aggregation for LLM alignment.
