Build tooling, not just output: a Claude Code + SVG invite generation workflow
CobaltThunder · reddit · 2026-10-13
Inspired by Opus 5.5's programmatic content generation, the author built a custom invite/flyer tool with Claude Code, under the philosophy of "prompt for tooling, not just for output":
- Had Claude Code build a web app with rich text editing, text box positioning, and PDF/PNG export
- Invite graphics are generated as SVGs laid out on an HTML canvas; Playwright lets Claude "view" the output and iterate until it's satisfied
- Further edits happen via prompting or directly in the web app
This avoids the pain of iterating text-heavy AI image generation, keeps human-level control, and makes quick edits without burning tokens. Templates are reusable and SVG enables lossless export.
