After TV Time shut down and lost 15 years of his data, he moved 10,260 media records into Obsidian

TV Time shut down in July 2026, taking the author's 15 years of TV and anime tracking history with it — he never exported a copy. In response, he migrated everything he cares about into his Obsidian vault: 10,260 notes covering movies, shows, anime, video games and board games, stored as plain Markdown with covers, statuses, ratings, ownership, prices and play dates.
The system will ship as the Media Management System of his Obsidian Starter Kit. Notes integrate with his knowledge base, can be browsed, queried, published, and queried via AI. The vault is versioned in Git and synced/backed up multiple times a day so a third-party shutdown can never wipe his data again.
