Claude's sandbox limited to 2 cores and 4GB RAM, even on a 12-core laptop
iScienceLuvr · x · 2026-10-13
A user asked Claude why only 2 cores were available. Claude's own reply (screenshot) explains commands run in a lightweight Linux VM sandbox capped at 2 cores, 4GB RAM and no GPU access — even though the laptop is an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 12 cores and a Radeon 890M. The cloud workspace has the same 2-core limit and a 400MB file cap, useless for 17-45GB clips. The poster calls for letting Claude use more local resources.
