DataFog MCP v1: local PII scanning and redacted file copies for AI workflows
Efficient-Proof-1824 · reddit · 2026-10-13
The DataFog team released DataFog MCP v1, giving MCP clients tools to scan local files for PII and create redacted copies. Detection and transformation run fully locally, and scan responses report findings without returning the matched values.
Example: before letting Claude Code analyze a customer CSV for purchasing patterns, ask it to check for emails and phone numbers, then create a redacted copy — the original stays untouched. Accessible directories are configurable, and since this is an explicit scan-and-redact workflow, you still need to ensure the assistant uses the redacted copy. Open source on GitHub.
