Google's enterprise Gemini agent: one memory across Workspace, M365 and Slack, routes work to Claude

At Gemini at Work 2026 (Oct 8), Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian unveiled the enterprise Gemini agent, with analyst Carolina Milanesi calling its governance controls the most detailed any vendor has announced this year:
- One agent: answers questions, executes multi-step work, and writes and runs code from a single prompt box; runs in the cloud with one memory across devices and channels.
- Cross-ecosystem reach: memory spans Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack, and it routes each task to Gemini or Anthropic's Claude — per-task model choice is the core pitch.
- Naming: it's simply called Gemini, with consumer agent Spark folded in; Google leans on the Gemini app's 950M MAU so employees already know the brand.
- Caveats: Google is the last of the big four to ship such an agent, with no GA date and unpublished consumption pricing.
Microsoft made the same naming bet: Copilot Cowork runs Anthropic models at GA, with GPT 5.5 available to Frontier customers.
