Codex CLI bug: context overflow after WebSocket retries breaks session resume
notatallshaw · ghdev · 2026-10-09
openai/codex issue #52567 (8 comments): on codex-cli 0.162.0 (standalone Linux, WSL2), a user running gpt-6.1-sol at high reasoning hit context overflow during a CLI goal after WebSocket retries, and the session then failed to resume. The codex doctor report showed overallStatus ok and a successful handshake, pointing to connection health during the failed turn rather than initial setup. Labeled bug, CLI, context, connectivity, session.
