Animating a cheetah via physics simulation reveals the limits of rigid-body skeletons
Kyrannio · x · 2026-10-13
shinboson got a cheetah running via physics simulation (a transverse rather than rotary gallop, he admits). He calls it a nightmare case: prior demos assume mostly rigid physics, while a cheetah is a rubber-band creature of elastic tendons. If starting over, he'd rethink how — or whether — to model soft bodies with internal rigid constraints instead of presuming all skeletons are rigid.
