Open-source Atomic Agent's Fusion mode: why the planner is barred from writing a single file
GapNew4766 · reddit · 2026-10-13
Atomic Agent (open source, MIT) runs Fusion: a cloud model plans and reviews while worker models build in parallel. The hardest rule to get right: the planner may write nothing. The team details how soft gates leaked (delegate returning ok on total failure, needsorchestrator escapes, dead-code guards), why refusals are messages instead of hidden tools (to preserve local planners' KV cache), and the irony of a planner spending 22 minutes writing a fix inside its own refusal. Includes a 6-agent importer with --dry-run and a new desktop app.
