Deep learning turns oncoprotein K-Ras(G12C) into a self-labeling fluorescent protein tag
KevinKaichuang · x · 2026-10-13
Researchers used deep learning to redesign 78 of 169 residues in the oncoprotein K-Ras(G12C), converting it into LUCI-tag, a self-labeling fluorescent protein tag. Benchmark data show labeling rate constants up to 1.9×10⁷ M⁻¹s⁻¹ with AG-TAMRA — faster than SNAP-tag or HaloTag7 — alongside strong probe orthogonality and characterized electrostatic surface changes. A notable AI-driven protein design result for molecular biology tooling.
